Revealed: Le Pen’s love for non-French music

Despite close competition from Nicolas Sarkozy, far-right darling Marine Le Pen was – until Sunday – the presidential candidate who said ‘French’ the most. French industry, French food, French justice, French hospitals, French people, French values (her favourite), French ... magnificence. ‘French’ was basically her campaign slogan.

But what of music?

After results on Sunday showed that she had won a massive 17.9 per cent of first-round votes (a record for her National Front party), Le Pen did not leap up to the tune of Edith Piaf or Claude François. Quite the contrary - her playlist was almost entirely English-sung; far from what you would expect from a fierce nationalist who wants to slap an impossible tax on all things imported.

One of Pâté’s colleagues kindly captured (albeit shakily) the moment when Le Pen began gyrating to none other than African-American singer Lionel Richie’s 80s pop classic All Night Long. Not only is it sung in English (AND by a black person), it also has excerpts of Spanish, Swahili and a snatch of Caribbean thrown into the mix. You’d expect this kind of totally and utterly non-French earache to be employed as a form of torture against strict National Front fans, not a means of celebration.

Could this be a sign that the party is opening up, embracing the world, celebrating diversity? Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Here at Paté we reckon the only plausible explanation for this madness is that she’s actually listening to La Marseillaise through a high-powered earpiece.

At least that would explain her dancing techniques...

are you really that idiot Robair Lord? or just you don't know what you're talking about ??
She is certainly "well-rounded" - must be all those croissants (French of course)!
Apparently you don't get who Marine is AT ALL! She is a well rounded, sophisticated individual who has a strong love of her country, the media has transformed into her being an ignorant racist, which she is NOT. Her love of American music, and Lionel Richie, was much appreciated by those of us at her electoral event. By the way, I live in the suburbs of Paris and I can tell you that if you want to see real racism, just see how a white person is treated by the non-whites where I live! Funny how you never talk about the anti-white, anti-French racism in France!!!!!
THE NEW PRESIDENT FOR FRANCE MUST GET RID FROM THE BARBARIANS ... AND MUST NEVER FORGET WHATS HAPPEND IN TOOLOUSE AND WHAT THE KILLER DONE...
